Jigsaw Piece No. 9
Making Your Website
Easy To Use...
It's a well know fact that if your site
doesn't look professional, and isn't easy to use, your sales won't be what they should be.
All that time wasted... getting people to your site... to have them
leave because of the way that it looks.
Take another look at the 80 plus
graphics, web icons, order buttons and guarantee seals that came as a
bonus with "Mini Site Magic". Would your site improve,
using some of these?
Still not up to using templates as yet? Check
out all the matching graphics that come with your chosen
MyOwnMinisite.
Adding graphics to your site is easy.
Select which graphics you want to use and copy them into the images
folder to your site. Then open the site in your web editor.
Place your cursor where you want the image to be located. Click "insert", "picture", "from file" and browse to the images folder.
Select the image and click "insert".
Your site needs to have people who are
"surfing the net" stay long enough to read your message... and
hopefully buy something!
If you're new to web design... here's
some hints to make your website easy for your visitors to
use:
|
No long paragraphs... most won't stay around to read
them.
Use bulleted or numbered lists if you've a number of
points to make. They're easy to read. And
most people do stop to read them.
Keep each item in your list short and to the point.
The days of lots of animated graphics on your site are long gone!
Your reader isn't there to be entertained.
Most are in a rush to find the information
they need. One animation to push a point
you're making - O.K. More? Maybe
not.
Do you have a graphic that would replace a whole
paragraph e.g. a "guarantee" graphic
attracts attention and tells a
story without you having to labor the point.
Then in one short sentence, just say what your guarantee
is.
i.e. "If (your
product name) doesn't teach you what you need to
know about (your niche) within the next 60 days...
simply email us and your money will be returned in
full".
And on the subject of guarantees... always have one!
If you don't have faith in your product... your
visitors won't either.
Use subheadings throughout your
page. This is to catch those visitors that "skim"
pages. Your subheads should tell a much
shortened version of your sales copy.
Don't hide your price! Some people hide it, so
the visitor has to search for it and hopefully read
more copy. But what if they simply become
impatient at not being able to find it... and leave
for the next site listed in the search engine?
We've always believed in being upfront with our
prices. They're always great value anyway!

Make it as easy as you can for someone to make a
purchase. Use a purchase button graphic so
that it stands out, and reassure your visitors that
you're using a safe payment processor.
Use multiple P.S.'s to reaffirm a few of your major
selling points. e.g. What a great deal your
price is/Your money back guarantee/Your limited time offer/How fast they'll
receive their new product. |
